Halle Bailey has been granted a temporary restraining order against the rapper DDG, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her 1-year-old child, after accusing him of abuse.
According to court documents reviewed by Entertainment Weeklythe singer and Little Mermaid actress, 25, said in a declaration, “Throughout our relationship, [DDG] has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.”
On Tuesday, a Los Angeles judge ordered DDG, whose legal name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., to stay away from Bailey and their son until a June 6 hearing. Bailey is also requesting sole legal and physical custody of Halo while asking that her ex, 27, only be allowed supervised visitations with their child.

Bailey has additionally requested an order to prevent child abduction, alleging that Granberry has a history of threatening to take or hide Halo from her. Bailey is asking that a judge order DDG not to move with Halo without her written permission.
In a court filing, Bailey offered several alleged examples of Granberry refusing to set a visitation schedule with their son, and also detailed instances of alleged violence against her. Among the latter is a January incident in which Bailey claims that Granberry repeatedly called her a “bitch” while she was strapping Halo into his car seat.
“The next thing I knew, things got physical between us,” Bailey alleged. “We fought each other, wrestling and tussling. At one point, Darryl was pulling my hair. He then slammed my face on the steering wheel, causing my tooth to get chipped. I then stopped fighting back as I was in a lot of pain.”
The filing included photos of Bailey’s chipped tooth and bruises on her arms. The Grown-ish alum also described a separate incident in which Granberry allegedly berated her for not turning over Halo for a visit, and smashed the Ring camera on her porch upon realizing it was recording. Bailey claimed that when she called a relative for help, Granberry took her phone, got into his car, and tossed it out the window while driving away.
Bailey further accused Granberry of using his audience as a rapper and YouTuber to create a “fan frenzy” that has led to her receiving threatening messages. “I am often scared for my life and Halo’s safety,” Bailey said.
Toward the end of her statement, Bailey claimed that she has “done everything possible to avoid going to Court.”

She added: “I have tried to placate Darryl by providing him access to Halo, even though he is not with Halo and often leaves Halo with his mother. I have facilitated his visits, no matter where I am and often last minute. I realize that there is no placating Darryl. I cannot allow this abuse any longer. I cannot keep living like this.”
Bailey and Granberry first sparked dating rumors in January 2022 and went Instagram-official two months later. On April 1 the following year, Granberry appeared to break the news that they were expecting a child, posting an ultrasound photo on social media and writing, “Can’t wait to be your dad.”
The timing of the post on April Fools’ Day initially caused some confusion, and led to insensitive speculation about Bailey’s body. Confirmation came the following January, when Bailey announced the birth of Halo.

In October, Granberry announced that he and Bailey had split in a statement shared to his Instagram Stories.
“Dear friends and supporters, after much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote. “The decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we shared.”

He added, “Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other. As we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.”
