BROKEN BOW – Two felony cases were bound over to district court in Custer County on Monday.
Casey Hall of Ravenna is facing ten felony counts for possession of child pornography. Court documents show that Hall’s attorney attempted to challenge whether the state had found sufficient probable cause for the charges during a hearing on Monday.
After hearing from a State Patrol Investigator, Judge Tami Schendt ruled that there was indeed probable cause and the case would proceed to district court.
Meanwhile Jennifer Nielsen of Broken Bow had one of two charges against her dismissed and the other amended.
Nielsen is accused of stealing from Central Nebraska Medical Clinic while she was in charge of the billing department as well as failing to bill some patients, resulting in a total loss to the clinic of more than $118,000.
According to court documents, a charge of Theft by Deception was dismissed on Monday. She still faces a charge of Theft by Unlawful Taking of $5,000 or more, which was amended to allege the theft took place between 2021 and 2024. The remaining charge is a Class 2A felony, punishable by a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted.
Nielsen waived a preliminary hearing on the amended charge.
Both cases were scheduled for arraignment in Custer County District Court on July 24.
