Actor-singer Halle Bailey has managed to obtain legal and physical custody rights for her toddler son, Halo Saint. This came after she secured a temporary restraining order against ex-boyfriend DDG, with whom she welcomed the child in December 2023. Bailey had sought the sole custody of Halo after alleging that DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr, had subjected her to physical and emotional abuse.
As per court documents cited by People magazine, Bailey was granted the sole physical and legal custody of the 16-month-old boy. The temporary restraining order against DDG, who is a rapper and YouTuber, mandates him to stay at least 100 yards away from Bailey and Halo. It will remain in effect until the next hearing, which is reportedly set to take place in the first week of June.
DDG has also been ordered by the court to stop posting about Bailey and Halo. The Little Mermaid singer alleged that the rapper incited his followers against her on Twitch and YouTube, leading to threats and hate mail.
The court has asked the rapper to not possess any weapons. This can be extended by up to five years at the next hearing, as per Associated Press.
Bailey also requested the judge to not allow DDG any visitation with their son, the report noted. She, however, also requested that her ex-boyfriend be allowed supervised visits with a professional company on a weekly basis for six hours while Halo stays in Los Angeles.
The court granted Halle Bailey permission to take Halo with her to Italy, where she will be shooting a movie for two months.
Bailey and DDG were together from 2022 to 2024. Since their breakup last year, Bailey said there have been “multiple acts of physical violence.”
“Throughout our relationship,” the singer said in court documents, “Daryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.”
As per TMZ, Halle Bailey went to court after her Mother’s Day trip to St Lucia with her sister and Halo. DDG had reached out to her during the holiday, accusing her of being involved with singer Brent Faiyaz.
