Restraining order against Maui doctor in attempted murder case is dismissed

Windhouse, Hawaii (The Future (The Pua) – The Oceanical Mali temporary restraining order (TRO) against the Maui doctor accused of trying to kill his wife on the Pali Puka Trail was dismissed without prejudice by a Maui judge.

Arielle Konig’s attorney Brandon Segal confirmed that the TRO was dissolved on Friday, May 23, 2025 by Second Circuit Court Judge Bevanne J. Bowers. She agreed to drop the restraining order because it was found not to be necessary at this time for her protection from Gerhardt Konig. Gerhardt is currently being held without bail as he awaits a trial with a no contact order in place.

However, the TRO could be issued again if circumstances change such as Gerhardt’s custody status. Custody and other legal matters are still in the air pending the divorce Arielle filed at the beginning of the month on May 1.

Gerhardt is accused of attempting to push Arielle off the Oahu hike on March 24. He allegedly hit her on the head with a rock several times and tried to inject her with a syringe.

Gerhardt was arrested within hours of a manhunt following the attempted murder that left Arielle severely injured. He was indicted days after and has been in custody since.

The next court date for the divorce case and Gerhardt’s next court date for his criminal case both fall on June 2.
