Officials: MA man sentenced to 18 years in prison for leading drug trafficking organization

The leader of a drug organization that trafficked narcotics shaped like candy will spend nearly two decades behind bars, prosecutors said.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said 27-year-old Emilio Garcia of Lynn, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 18 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Prosecutors said the investigation began in July 2023 following an overdose death in Salem, Massachusetts.

Investigators said they seized an estimated 8 million individual doses of fentanyl and methamphetamine laced pills and powder during a search of four locations in Lynn in November 2023. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts said the laced pills and powder that were seized are worth upwards of $8 million.

Prosecutors said they believe that one location that was searched was “one of the largest single-location seizures of fentanyl and methamphetamine” in New England.

Another co-conspirator, Deiby Felix of Lynn, pleaded guilty to multiple drug and gun charges in February 2025, according to prosecutors. Felix is awaiting sentencing.
