Oak Point officer resigns after abuse of power allegations

Hooters has closed an Alabama location only months after the company filed for bankruptcy.

A sign on the door of the Tuscaloosa restaurant, at 5025 Oscar Baxter Drive, says it is closed, and a listing on Google indicates the location is permanently closed.

On social media, customers and employees mourned the store’s loss.

Tony Prude, who said he worked there 16 years, wrote on social media that he was “Hooters Crew for life.”

“To all the hooter girls I’ve had the pleasure of working with. It’s too many to tag. It was some wild times and some crazy stories. Hope you and your families are doing well and wish yall the best,” he wrote.

Hooters still has locations in Gulf Shores, Birmingham, Pelham, Prattville and Trussville, according to the company website.

USA Today closed over 30 company-owned locations Wednesday, according to USA Today.

The chain filed for Chapter 11 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Dallas earlier this year.

Hooters stated it has no plans to shutter all of its restaurants completely. Instead, the move puts dozens of Hooters restaurants back into the hands of experienced operators, the company said.

Another part of Hooters’ rebound strategy: rebranding its image to become more “family friendly,” including getting rid of its famous “bikini days,” reports the Montgomery Advertiser.
