Nurse accused of inciting terrorism granted bail

Serena Lewis-King, the nursing assistant who was charged with inciting acts of terrorism, was granted bail in the sum of $350,000 by the High Court on Thursday.

Lewis-King, 23, of Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was initially remanded to prison after appearing before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday, May 9. She was not initially required to plead to the charge but was able to enter a plea of not guilty before Magistrate McGusty on Friday.

The charge followed her arrest on Monday, May 5, after a wanted bulletin was issued in her name. Lewis-King, who was attached to the Georgetown Public Hospital, is accused of making statements in a voice recording that was widely circulated online.
