Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Brainard Surgery Center data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Brainard Surgery Center LLC announced a recent data security incident that may have impacted the personal information of more than 500 individuals who received treatment at the Lyndhurst, Ohio surgery center.
On February 23, 2025, Brainard discovered suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, the organization retained external cybersecurity experts and forensic investigators to examine the incident and assess its impact. The investigation determined an unauthorized party accessed and removed certain files from the center’s systems.
The types of data potentially affected vary for each individual and may include names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers or other state-issued identification numbers, medical claims details, health insurance information and clinical information such as diagnoses, medical conditions and medications.
According to an online notice about the incident, Brainard Surgery Center is still conducting an analysis of the affected files to determine the types of patient information involved and identify those who may be impacted. Once this assessment is complete, the organization intends to mail notification letters to all potentially affected individuals.
If your information was exposed in the data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
