Missing/Endangered Person: Julianah Rodriguez – Pasco Sheriff’s Office News

With a $100 million class action settlement fee up for grabs from Google, citizens all over America will be checking to see if they qualify. This particular case is the result of allegations placed on Google for charging advertisers for ad clicks from users outside of their normal geographical targeting range. Charging advertisers for ad clicks beyond the normal geographical range is a violation of California’s Unfair Competition Law.

Citizens who are linked to Google’s AdWords need to see if they are eligible to qualify for this settlement and they need to take note of how to claim before the deadline.

More about the Google AdWords Lawsuit

The class action lawsuit is focused particularly on Google’s former advertising platform- AdWords. According to the lawsuit, advertisers who advertised on Google’s AdWords between January 1, 2024, and March 22, 2011, were incorrectly billed for clicks that included clicks from users outside their commonly accepted geographical locations target.

Despite the allegations placed on Google, Google has denied all wrongdoing. Nevertheless, to resolve all allegations and to reduce the impact of further legal implications, Google has agreed to a $100 million settlement agreement. As per the settlement agreement, thousands of advertisers are affected including some advertisers who are not even aware that they overpaid for clicks as the clicks that they paid for included clicks from users beyond their stipulate geographical range.

How to act in order to earn a share of the settlement fee?

Only advertisers who feel that they qualify and those who have checked their eligibility status must make sure to claim before July 20, 2025. Citizens can take action by:

  • Submitting a payment form: Advertisers who would like to receive a cash payment will need to submit valid payment forms that stipulate that they paid for Google’s AdWords between January 1, 2024, and March 22, 2011. When submitting these payment forms, the Google AdWords Customer ID as well as the code from the email notice needs to be provided too.
  • Claimants need to remember that the minimum payout is $1any claim below $1 won’t be paid out via a payment method of choice including that of Venmo, check, virtual Mastercard or direct deposit.

How to object to Google’s settlement?

In cases where a claimant does not want to be part of this settlement agreement so as to take matters in their own hands and take legal action against Google, claimants need to request exclusion.

  • Eligible claimants need to request exclusion by the same deadline of July 20, 2025. All claimants who opted out previously will remain excluded from the settlement agreement unless they choose to rejoin.
  • Claimants who wish to do not want to be excluded from the settlement entirely but who disagree with legal fees can submit an objection in writing by the deadline of July 20, 2025.
  • Citizens who opt out of the class action settlement retain their rights to sue Google themselves.

Citizens still have the chance to opt out of this settlement as well as for theBotanic Tonics, LLC class action settlement.

Determining eligibility and seeing if you qualify

  • Search Bundled Clicks Class: U.S. advertisers who from June 1, 2009, to Dec. 13, 2012, allowed for ads to appear on both Search and Display Networks without having to set separate bids and were charged for bundled clicks.
  • Location Targeting Class: U.S. individuals and businesses who paid for AdWords clicks outside of their targeting location between January 1, 2004, and March 22, 2011.

The qualifying criteria to be part of this settlement includes:

  • Advertisers who advertised through Google AdWords in the U.S.
  • Advertisers who have a Google AdWords Customer ID from that period.
  • Advertisers who paid for ad clicks during the stipulated timeframe.

All affected advertisers who were deemed eligible for the class action settlement fee received email notices from the beginning of May 2025. These email notices contained a unique code and a link to the official claim’s website. The final approval hearing will take place on August 21, 2025.
