Missing boater found dead at Lake Pueblo State Park

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) – A missing boater was found dead Saturday evening after a nearly 24 hour search at Lake Pueblo State Park.

Officials with Colorado State Patrol told 11 News they received a report on Friday night around 8 p.m. of a capsized boat in the Bogs Creek Cove area. There was reportedly a severe windstorm, and the boat turned over.

Officials say three people went into the water, and only two swam back to shore.

Several crews responded, searching for the missing person. As of Saturday evening, that missing boater’s body was found, according to CPW.

They said, to their knowledge, none of the three boaters were wearing life jackets. Officials said they recommend everyone on the water wear life jackets.

So far, the name of the person who died has not been released. CPW said that information will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner, who will also determine cause of death.
