Court documents submitted on June 6th as part of Rite Aids Chapter 11 Bankruptcy procedures added another 200 stores slated to close, including the Cortland location at 1067 State Route 222. A specific closing date was not listed in court documents.
Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection last month and began to close hundreds of stores, including in New York State. The Cortland location was one of the last New York locations to be listed as closing. Since May 6th, Rite Aid Rewards points have no longer been issued for qualifying purchases with all accrued points and the store’s BonusCash expiring per the standard terms. Rite Aid Gift Cards, returns or exchanges are no longer accepted since June 5th.
Last month, CVS Pharmacy announced the company had agreed to acquire the prescription files of 625 Rite Aid locations; specific locations were not provided by CVS when asked by X101 News. It is possible that prescriptions may also be transferred to Walgreens as Walgreens had also agreed to purchase prescription files for an undisclosed amount.
Rite Aid previously declared bankruptcy two years ago where the Cortland location was spared from hundreds of closings.
