Fort Bend County Judge KP George experiences setbacks during court appearance regarding criminal charges

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas Fort Bend County Judge KP George continues to make headlines following his recent announcement of switching from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party earlier this week.

Today, George appeared in court for a motion hearing concerning the criminal charges he faces in two separate incidents.

These cases include a misdemeanor misrepresentation of identity linked to George’s former Chief of Staff, Taral Patel, who pleaded guilty in April for his involvement in a social media hoax, and a case involving two counts of money laundering, classified as a third-degree felony.

During Friday’s motion hearing, George’s attorneys, Terry Yates and Jared Woodfill, filed a motion to disqualify the trial court, requesting that outside judges, rather than Fort Bend County judges, preside over their clients’ cases.

The presiding judge did not rule in George’s favor, stating that this argument had persisted for too long and should have been resolved earlier.

Despite their disappointment with the outcome of today’s hearing, George’s attorneys expressed to 2 Investigates Mario Diaz their belief that their client will receive a fair trial, noting that they do not anticipate the case going to trial due to forthcoming issues that will be revealed, regarding the indictment, soon.

“I’m disappointed. I 100% believe in my innocence, and I will stand up and fight, and these two gentlemen will take that to the next level, and we will go on,” George said.

George is due back in court on June 27 for another hearing on his felony charges.
