
On Friday 6-13-25 at approximately 2322 hours the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a Missing Person Report in the area of McCoy Reservoir and Highway 44. An elderly couple were in the area foraging for mushrooms and stopped to have lunch at about 1400 hours. Shortly after the elderly male could not locate the elderly female. He returned home to get help from his family and return to the area. Family members called dispatch to report the elderly female missing as they traveled back to the scene. A Lassen County Sheriff’s Office Missing Person Investigation and Search and Rescue Mission were initiated.
Family members did not know the exact location but were able to lead personnel to area of Mud Lake near the intersection of Highway 44 and Lassen County Road A-21. At approximately 0207 hours on Saturday 6-14-25 two Lassen County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, their Sergeant and two California Highway Patrol Officers arrived to the last known location of the missing person.
Personnel conducted a ground search of the area as one Deputy patrolled Lassen County Road 112 north of ground searchers. The search continued for about 1.25 hours when searchers heard a person answer their call outs in the vicinity of the 112 Road. Personnel were able to direct the Lassen County Deputy toward the yelling via handheld radio where he located her safe. She was reunited with her family at the staging area. The incident concluded at about 0415 hours.
