EBR Parish Prison employee arrested less than two weeks after being hired, deputies say

EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) – An East Baton Rouge Parish Prison employee was arrested less than two weeks after being hired, according to officials.

The employee, Alezsha Evans, 31, is charged with domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property.

Evans was hired to work in corrections at the prison on Wednesday, May 28, and was then placed on administrative leave on Sunday, June 8, after being accused of domestic abuse, according to EBRSO.

Officials said that after all evidence was gathered, Evans was terminated from her position at the EBR Parish Prison.

According to an arrest report, Evans is accused of choking the victim from behind as well as striking the victim several times with an object.

Evans was booked into the EBR Parish Prison on the evening of Tuesday, June 10.
