Crawford County Man Charged with Drug Trafficking

A Crawford County man is facing a drug trafficking charge after authorities say they uncovered a large quantity of methamphetamine during a search of his home.

Corey M. Spangler has been charged with second-degree drug trafficking following an early-morning raid on April 25 at his residence located in the 1000 block of Highway H in Leasburg.

Members of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant tied to an ongoing drug investigation.

Deputies found Spangler lying on the ground next to a mattress in the living room when they entered the home, according to a probable cause statement. After securing the residence, authorities read Spangler his Miranda rights, which he acknowledged and initially agreed to waive.

During questioning, Spangler admitted he was a methamphetamine user and pointed to drug paraphernalia located on a bedside table. He stated he had last used the drug the evening before. He was subsequently taken to the Crawford County Adult Detention Facility.

A search of the home revealed a camouflage zipper bag hidden under the mattress where Spangler had been lying. Inside, deputies discovered approximately 117 grams of methamphetamine, numerous small baggies commonly associated with drug distribution, and $5,231 in cash. Additional drug-related items, including smoking devices, a syringe, digital scales, and other paraphernalia, were also recovered.

Following the search, authorities attempted to interview Spangler at the jail regarding the seized items, but he declined to make a statement. A field test of the crystal-like substance found in the bag returned a positive result for methamphetamine. The drugs have been submitted to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for further analysis.

Spangler remains in custody at the Crawford County Adult Detention Facility. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office has released video footage of the arrest to the public.
