Asheville police arrest 2 for felony drug possession, including 1 for trafficking

Two people were arrested on felony drug charges in West Asheville on June 23 while police officers were conducting proactive crime prevention in response to community complaints, according to the Asheville Police Department.

At 5:47 p.m. June 23, officers made contact with 40-year-old Stephane Michelle Vosburg, who had an outstanding warrant, according to a news release. During the arrest, Vosberg was found to be in possession of narcotics and was taken into custody without incident, the release said.

Later that evening, officers encountered a motorcycle without a license plate traveling the wrong way on a one-way street and ignoring a stop sign, police said. During the traffic stop on State Street, Steven Lamar Rice Jr., 54, was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of narcotics and was taken into custody without incident, the release said.

Rice was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $100,000secured bond and was charged with the following:

  • Felony trafficking in opiates by transport level I
  • Felony trafficking opiates by possession level I
  • Felony possession with intent to manufacture sell deliver schedule ii
  • Two counts of felony possession of schedule II drugs
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Carrying concealed gun
  • Driving while license revoked
  • Failure to display tag
  • Stop sign violation

Vosburg was booked under a $3,500 secured bond and charged with possession of schedule II drugs and second-degree trespass..
