Americans to get payment from $43M Progressive settlement without proof

Progressive Insurance will pay $43 million to settle a class action lawsuit. Eligible Americans will automatically receive a cash payment without needing to submit proof.

The lawsuit claims that Progressive Premium Insurance Co. and related companies undervalued vehicle loss claims in Georgia. Progressive underpaid many policyholders compared to what their insurance policies guaranteed. The settlement covers first-party claims made between 2015 and 2025 through Progressive Premium Insurance Co., Progressive Mountain Insurance Co., or Progressive Premier Insurance Co. of Illinois.

Who qualifies for a payout?

Eligible claimants must meet these criteria:

  • Filed a first-party auto insurance claim based on an Instant Report from Mitchell with a Project Solid Adjustment.
  • Held a policy with Progressive Mountain Insurance Co. between October 11, 2015, and February 18, 2025, or with Progressive Premier Insurance Co. of Illinois between June 8, 2016, and February 18, 2025.

Eligible participants do not need to file a claim form. Payments, estimated at $173, will be sent automatically.

Key deadlines and settlement terms

The deadline to opt out of the settlement is April 30, 2025. The court will hold a final approval hearing on May 15, 2025.

Progressive denies any wrongdoing but agreed to settle to avoid a prolonged legal battle.

Other cash settlement opportunities

Thousands of delivery drivers can claim part of a $4 million settlement involving Drizly, an alcohol delivery service owned by Uber. From 2018 to 2023, Drizly customers tipped at checkout, but those tips often went to store owners instead of drivers.

Drivers who worked for Drizly in New York must file claims by July 15, 2025, to receive their share.
