Police service notes suspended member has posted a series of videos to social media

A member of the Saugeen Shores Police Service who has been suspended from the force since last year is facing several misconduct charges.

On Wednesday, Saugeen Shores police issued a news release in which it said the service is aware of a series of videos posted on social media over the past week by a suspended member of the police service.

“These videos attempt to undermine the Saugeen Shores Police Service’s ongoing commitment to the mental health and well-being of both our members and the public we serve,” it said in the release. “The content does not reflect the values, integrity, or the high standards of professionalism upheld by the Saugeen Shores Police Service.”
The individual has been suspended with pay since September in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act, and is currently subject to five disciplinary hearing processes and faces a total of 22 code of conduct charges, it stated in the release.

Saugeen Shores Police Service will not be releasing any further information at this time to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, the release said.
The police service added that it has implemented comprehensive mental health initiatives over the past several years, including enhanced training and protocols to improve responses to individuals in crisis, as well as supports for officers experiencing mental health challenges.
“We are proud of the efforts made to foster a positive and supportive workplace culture that prioritizes wellness at every level of the organization,” it said in the news release.
“We remain transparent and accountable to our community and reaffirm our unwavering dedication to both public safety and well-being.”
