BIG TCPA NEWS!: Instacart Sued in TCPA Case And Now We Know the Company’s Adorable Real Name

So Instacart was just the latest victim of the massive spike in TCPA litigation to start 2025.

Although that is interesting– and we’ll get to the details– the real news is that I just learned Instacart’s real name, and I love it.

Turns out Instacart is a DBA of some company called MapleBear, Inc.

MapleBear.

How cute.

I want to eat a maple bear. Or maybe that’s a maple bar.

Regardless Instacart has the best legal name of any large corporate entity as far I am concerned, but it still didn’t prevent it from being sued in a TCPA case.

In the new case brought by Beaufort Nickson in Maryland Plaintiff alleges he received numerous text messages from the Maple Bear inviting him to use credits and offers on Instacart. He claims his number is on the national DNC and he never gave the company permission to text him.

Luckily for the bear of maple this case is the rare NON class action TCPA suit filed this year. As the Czar reported on Friday over 80% of TCPA cases filed this year have, in fact, been class actions. Instacart is fortunate to only be facing a $30k claim here and not a $30MM claim in a class action.

So there you go. Cute name. But expensive lawsuit.

Chat soon.
