UPDATED: Search continues for missing Hinsdale man, NHSP issues Silver Alert

HINSDALE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – The search for a missing Hinsdale resident remains ongoing after extensive efforts by local and state agencies.

The Hinsdale Police Department issued a missing person notice on April 24th, and learned that Scott Plante, 62, had last contacted a friend on April 17.

Rescue Inc.’s Technical Rescue Team assisted by searching the Ashuelot River with boats and drones, while the New Hampshire State Police and New Hampshire Fish and Game conducted additional searches without finding new information. On April 25, Fish and Game, alongside New England K-9 Search and Rescue and Rescue Inc., expanded the search to a one-mile radius around Plante’s abandoned vehicle and deployed divers into the Ashuelot River, again yielding no leads.

Sightings of individuals resembling Plante have been investigated and ruled out. Authorities confirmed there is no suspicion of foul play but expressed significant concern for Plante’s well-being.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on April 26 New Hampshire State Police issued a Silver Alert for Plante. The alert says he was last seen when he parked his vehicle on Main Street in Hinsdale near his home at about 8:20 a.m. on April 17 and is believed to be on foot. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a button down denim shirt, and black sneakers, as pictured above, and police said he requires daily medication and has a mental illness.

The Hinsdale Police Department continues to encourage the public to share information, including in Brattleboro, where Plante may have connections.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Hinsdale Police Department at 603-336-5723, or Cheshire County Dispatch at 603-355-2000.
