‘It’s not just hair’: Black Philadelphia firefighter says department hair policy is discriminatory

Peoria (25News Now) – A group of 10 former and current Bradley University professors and its faculty union has filed a federal lawsuit against the school.

The lawsuit, filed on June 4, revolves around academic cuts made by the university in 2023 due to a budget deficit. It claimed the termination of dozens of faculty members violated the union’s contract with Bradley.

It also claimed the administration led by then-President Stephen Standifird eliminated programs and jobs without due process and refused to consider recommended non-academic cuts, all while failing to eliminate inefficiencies and excess spending by the senior administration.

The plaintiffs are seeking compensation for terminated employees’ lost wages. They also want an order preventing Bradley University from making unilateral changes to faculty status and academic programs.

Additionally, the plaintiffs are also asking for the university to admit it violated the terms of the union contract.

In a statement, Bradley University representative Ben Jedd said the university does not comment on pending litigation as a matter of practice.
