“A mystery against the clock”: "Dazzling” sleuth thriller A Murder at the End of the World is coming to ITV

ITV has acquired a “dazzling” new sleuth thriller starring The Crown’s Emma Corrin, which sees her attempting to solve a mystery against the clock in a glamorous yet remote location. In A Murder at the End of the World, a group of guests are invited to an exclusive retreat, only for one of them to end up dead – leaving a killer somewhere among them.

Emma Corrin stars as amateur hacker and amateur sleuth Darby, who attempts to uncover who the murderer is before it’s too late. The show was original created by US network FX, which is part of Disney Entertainment, but it has now been acquired by ITV to stream for free in the UK. ITV describe the show as a “compelling mystery drama,” set in a “remote and dazzling location.”

Here’s everything we know about the series so far, including when it will be available to watch…

What is A Murder at the End of the World about?

The series is centred around Darby Hart (Emma Corrin), who the synopsis describes as a “Gen Z amateur sleuth and tech-savvy hacker”. When she and eight other guests receive invitations from a mysterious and reclusive billionaire, it sounds like a dream come true. Who wouldn’t want to join an exclusive retreat in a stunning – but isolated – location?

Of course, the trip turns out to be miles away from the break the guests had hoped for, and takes a deadly turn when one of the invitees is found dead. Instead, Darby finds herself thrown into a dangerous world with no idea who she can really trust. To stay safe and find out the truth, she “must use all of her skills to prove it was murder against a tide of competing interests and before the killer takes another life.”

In the trailer, there are flashes of Darby being haunted by a masked face on her devices, shots of a snow-covered location and candle lit dinner party, as well as some haunting and intriguing snippets of dialogue. “You know LA Times calls her the Gen Z Sherlock Holmes?” says one character. In another scene, Darby says “You’re scared,” to their wealthy host. “Terrified,” he answers. You can watch the trailer below:

Head of Content Acquisitions at ITV, Sasha Breslau, says that Emma Corrin’s performance as Darby “captivates” viewers, and adds she is “delighted” to bring the seven-part series to the network for UK audiences.
