
UPDATE: On May 19, 2025, at about 10:23 a.m., following an extensive search by deputies and the Sheriff’s Dive Team, Tanner Prentiss’ body was located in the water near the Pine Knot Marina.
Investigators followed up information from people who last saw him. No foul play was indicated, and the Coroner’s Office has assumed the investigation.
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tanner’s family, friends and all those who are affected by his loss. The family is requesting privacy as they navigate through this tragic incident,” stated sheriff’s officials at the Big Bear Station.
BIG BEAR, Calif. (VVNG.com)— Authorities with the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station are asking for the public’s help in locating 22-year-old Tanner Prentiss, who has been reported missing.
According to officials, Tanner was last seen in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 17, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the area of Village Drive in Big Bear.
Sheriff’s officials said he was possibly walking southbound toward Big Bear Boulevard at the time.
Authorities said Tanner was in Big Bear Lake with a group of friends, but didn’t return to his cabin on Saturday.
Tanner, a resident of Santa Barbara County, was last seen wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
